Nets Guard Says Woj Mistake Had Him Freaking Out


ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski turned Dennis Smith Jr.’s world the other way up on commerce deadline day when he mistakenly stated Smith was to be traded.

Woj reported that the Nets guard had been traded to the Raptors with Spencer Dinwiddie in a deal for Dennis Schroder, solely to appropriate his mistake minutes later, and make clear that Smith wasn’t concerned.

After Brooklyn’s 123-103 win over San Antonio on Saturday, Smith recalled the second he thought he was getting traded.

“I received Woj tweets on, so all of his tweets come to my cellphone as quickly as he tweets them on deadline day,” Smith informed reporters. “I see Spencer going there. I’m on FaceTime, and I see my identify pop up. I’m like, ‘Hell nah!’ I click on on it, and it says, ‘Dennis Smith Jr. traded to the Raptors.’ I had a knot in my abdomen, I used to be sick!

“…I’m my cellphone and it says [Nets assistant General Manager] Andy Birdsong. He’s calling me as I noticed it. And I’ve been traded earlier than mid-year so I’m like, ‘He’s gonna ship the information.’ So I’m wanting that factor like, ‘I’m not gonna reply this sh**!’ Then I press reply and he’s like, ‘Nah! Nah! Nah! It’s a typo. You good. You staying right here. Don’t fear.’ So I begin hitting everybody up and telling them, ‘That’s cap! I ain’t going nowhere!”

Poor Smith defined that his cellphone was blowing up that commerce day, and he couldn’t even get via his pre-game ritual after the information.

“I ain’t even get no pregame nap that day,” Smith stated. “I used to be sick. I went exterior and took a bit of stroll to attempt to decompress. It was loopy.”

The Web’s new backcourt, that includes the 2 Dennises, is off to a promising begin following Saturday’s win.

In his debut, Schroder scored 15 factors, three rebounds 12 assists on 60 % taking pictures from three, whereas Smith had 14 factors, six rebounds and two assists on 66.7 % from the sphere and from three.
